Well guys, I finally took the plunge. I am making an actual, real-sized quilt! I know I’ve had lots of practice in all the component steps of making a quilt with all the coasters and mug rugs I’ve made, and I’ve even made a few mini wall quilts… but a real quilt still sounded scary!
This one is going to be 45 inches square, and will be Baby Boy’s first quilt. It’s made of half-square triangles for DAYS and I still have 40 more to go.
I’ve learned a lot about working with HSTs and how to nest seams, and it has made a huge difference in how my points turn out! They’re not all perfect but they’re way better than they were before, and I am so pleased with how it’s coming along!
I’m terrified of the part when I have to make the quilt sandwich and then actually quilt the thing though.. it feels huge compared to what I’m used to! In a perfect world I’d have cute wandering stars quilted in just the white parts of the quilt, but my current skill level will probably only allow zig-zags. We’ll see…
